BA2605R – Brackett Aero Filters FAA-PMA Air Filter Element

Available now on the Airparts.aero Marketplace.

Overview

The Brackett BA2605R is an FAA-PMA certified, disposable air filter element designed for the right-hand (RH) engine of specific twin-engine Aero Commander and Twin Commander aircraft. This is the official replacement element for the Brackett BA-2610R Filter Assembly. It is not a complete filter housing but the high-performance, "throw-away" foam element that provides superior engine protection.

This filter element is engineered with a dual-stage, specially treated polyurethane foam. This advanced design effectively captures dust, dirt, and other airborne contaminants while ensuring a high volume of clean, unrestricted airflow to the engine. The BA2605R is fire-retardant, repels water (making it ideal for seaplane operations), and offers a 98% efficiency rating. Its "no-pleat" design prevents the collection of dirt in folds and is highly resistant to abrasion.

Key Features

  • FAA-PMA Certified: A fully certified, airworthy component, approved as a direct replacement.

  • Dual-Stage Foam Filtration: Utilizes a two-layer foam design to increase dust-holding capacity and filtration efficiency.

  • Fire-Retardant Material: The polyurethane foam is specially treated to be fire-retardant, a critical safety feature.

  • Water-Repellent: The element is unaffected by water, making it approved for and ideally suited to seaplane operations.

  • High Efficiency: Patented treated foam provides a 98% filtration efficiency rating.

  • Disposable, Low-Cost Element: Designed for easy and economical replacement at specified service intervals, reducing long-term maintenance costs.

Technical Specifications

  • Part Number: BA2605R

  • Component Type: Air Filter Replacement Element (Right Hand)

  • OEM Manufacturer: Brackett Aero Filters, Inc.

  • Material: Dual-Stage, Treated Polyurethane Foam

  • For Use With: Brackett Filter Assembly P/N BA-2610R

Aircraft Compatibility

This filter element is specified for the Right-Hand (RH) installation on the following aircraft (which must have the Brackett BA-2610R filter assembly installed per STC SA71GL):

  • Gulfstream (Aero Commander): 560, 560A, 560E

  • Twin Commander: 680

Note: This list is for reference only. The aircraft's specific STC documentation and Illustrated Parts Catalog (IPC) are the final authorities for determining part applicability. This is the right-side element and is typically paired with the BA2605L (left-side) element.

Applications

  • Engine Air Intake Filtration: The primary component for cleaning induction air before it enters the engine's fuel system and combustion chambers.

  • Scheduled Maintenance: A disposable service part replaced at regular intervals (per the STC, maintenance manual, or when 50% covered with foreign material) to ensure optimal engine performance and protection.

Why Choose BA2605R?

A clean air supply is essential for engine health and longevity. The Brackett BA2605R is the official, FAA-PMA certified replacement element for the BA-2610R assembly. Using a genuine Brackett element guarantees the correct filtration efficiency, fire-retardant properties, and airflow characteristics specified for your aircraft. Unlike paper filters, the robust foam design will not degrade when exposed to moisture and offers superior depth-loading for a longer service life in dusty or harsh environments.

Note: The BA2605R is a disposable, non-cleanable filter element. Attempting to wash or reuse the element is strictly prohibited and will void its certification and compromise its filtration and fire-retardant properties. Always check the element's manufacturing date, as the element has a finite shelf life (typically 4 years).

Documentation

  • STC SA71GL: The Supplemental Type Certificate (STC) documentation contains the full applicability list and installation instructions for the parent BA-2610R assembly.

  • Brackett I-194: The installation and continued inservice instructions (Form I-194) are typically provided on the element's packaging and are available on the Brackett Aero Filters website.
