RA2111U – Rapco Inc FAA-PMA Universal Unrodded De-Ice Brush Module Kit
Available now on the Airparts.aero Marketplace.
Overview
The Rapco RA2111U is an FAA-PMA approved, universal "unrodded" de-ice brush module kit, engineered as a high-quality replacement for the brush components in a wide variety of propeller de-ice brush blocks. This kit is a critical part of the electro-thermal propeller de-icing system, responsible for safely and reliably transferring electrical current from the stationary airframe to the rotating propeller slip ring assembly. Featuring long-life carbon brushes and durable construction, the RA2111U provides a certified and cost-effective solution for maintaining the integrity and performance of your aircraft's ice protection system.
Key Features
- Long-Life Carbon Brushes: The kit's core components are the carbon brushes, which are fabricated from a specialized, high-conductivity carbon-graphite composite. This material is engineered for low wear rates and excellent electrical conductivity, ensuring a long service life and reliable current transfer.
- Universal "Unrodded" Design: The "unrodded" design refers to the construction of the brush pigtail lead, providing a universal fit for numerous brush block designs. This kit is a versatile service part for a wide range of aircraft.
- Constant-Force Spring: The assembly is designed to work with the brush block's constant-force springs. These ensure that the carbon brush maintains a consistent and correct pressure against the slip ring, even as the brush wears down over time, guaranteeing a reliable electrical connection.
- Direct PMA Replacement: A certified FAA-PMA direct replacement for the original brush components, guaranteeing perfect form, fit, and electrical function in all specified brush block assemblies.
- Cost-Effective Maintenance: Provides a certified and reliable solution for replacing only the wearable brush components of the de-ice system, rather than the entire, more expensive brush block assembly.

Aircraft Compatibility
The Rapco RA2111U is a versatile kit designed to service the brush blocks on many of the world's most popular turboprop and high-performance piston twin aircraft.
- Common Aircraft Platforms:
- Beechcraft King Air: 90, 100, 200 Series
- Beechcraft Baron: 58P, 58TC
- Cessna: 340, 414, 421, 425
- Piper: Cheyenne, Navajo
- And many other aircraft equipped with electro-thermal propeller de-ice systems.
Applications
The RA2111U is a critical component for safe flight in icing conditions:
- Propeller Ice Protection: A key component that delivers the electrical power to the rotating propeller de-ice boots.
- Scheduled Maintenance: Brushes are wear items and are a mandatory inspection item. The brush module must be inspected regularly for minimum brush length, pigtail security, and spring condition.
- System Troubleshooting: A primary component to replace when diagnosing an inoperative or intermittently functioning propeller de-ice system.
Why Choose RA2111U?
A functioning propeller de-ice system is mandatory for any aircraft certified for Flight Into Known Icing (FIKI). Failure of a brush to transfer current can render the entire system useless, creating a severe flight hazard. Using a high-quality, FAA-PMA approved RA2111U brush kit from a trusted manufacturer like Rapco ensures the part has the correct, certified brush material to prevent excessive wear on the slip rings and is designed for a reliable, arc-free connection. For a flight-critical safety system, this is a smart and safe investment.

The RA2111U brush module is a critical interface between the aircraft's static and rotating systems. Electrical current from the de-ice timer/controller is routed to the brush block. This current flows through the pigtail leads into the carbon brushes. The constant pressure from the block's springs ensures the brushes are in firm contact with the concentric, conductive slip rings that are rotating with the propeller. The current is transferred to the slip rings, and from there, it is routed via wires along the propeller blades to the de-ice boots. The carbon-graphite material of the brushes is specifically designed to deposit a thin, conductive graphite film onto the slip rings, which reduces both mechanical friction and electrical resistance, allowing for efficient current transfer with minimal arcing or wear.
Note: This is a flight-critical ice protection system component. Installation and inspection must be performed by a certified A&P mechanic in accordance with the current aircraft maintenance manual. Brushes must be inspected for minimum length and the slip rings must be clean and in good condition for proper operation.FAA Eligibility [ Click Here ]
