Overview

The Textron Aviation 101-389011-65 is a genuine OEM, flight-critical check valve, engineered for the high-pressure, high-temperature bleed air systems of the Beechcraft King Air series. This is not a simple fluid valve; it is a precision-engineered pneumatic component designed to permit the flow of superheated bleed air in only one direction. Its primary function is to prevent any reverse flow or back pressure, which is essential for the safe and proper operation of systems that rely on bleed air, such as cabin pressurization, de-icing, and environmental controls. Manufactured from high-temperature stainless steel, this valve guarantees the reliability and performance required for this demanding application.

Key Features

  • Unidirectional Flow Control: Functions as an automatic one-way valve. It opens with a very low cracking pressure to allow bleed air to flow from the engine into a system, but instantly closes to form a positive seal if any back pressure is sensed, preventing reverse flow.
  • High-Temperature Stainless Steel Construction: Machined from a high-grade, temperature-resistant stainless steel alloy. This material is chosen for its ability to maintain its structural integrity and resist corrosion and oxidation at the extreme temperatures of turbine engine bleed air (which can exceed 500°F).
  • Low Cracking Pressure: Engineered with a precisely calibrated internal spring, it is designed to open with a minimal amount of forward pressure, ensuring it does not create a significant restriction or pressure drop in the bleed air system.
  • High-Reliability Sealing: Features a durable, positive-seating poppet or disc that creates a tight seal against the valve seat when closed, ensuring zero reverse leakage, which is critical for system safety and performance.
  • Genuine Textron OEM Part: As a genuine factory component, it guarantees conformance to the exact flow characteristics, material specifications, and pressure ratings required by the original aircraft Type Certificate.

Applications

The 101-389011-65 is an essential safety and functional component in the pneumatic system:

  • System Isolation: Prevents bleed air from a running engine from flowing back into a shutdown engine on multi-engine aircraft.
  • Pressurization & ECS Protection: Protects the engine compressor from being back-driven by high-pressure air from the environmental control system (ECS) pack or the cabin itself.
  • De-Ice System Integrity: Ensures that bleed air used to inflate de-ice boots flows only to the boots and cannot flow back toward the engine.

Why Choose 101-389011-65?

A failed check valve in a bleed air system can have serious consequences, ranging from an inability to maintain cabin pressure to the potential for catastrophic engine damage from reverse airflow into the compressor. The Textron Aviation 101-389011-65 is the genuine OEM part, engineered and tested to provide a fast, positive seal, every time. For a component this critical to both cabin safety and engine health, there is no substitute for the certified quality and reliability of a genuine Textron part.

The 101-389011-65 is a direct-acting, spring-loaded poppet check valve. Inside the valve body, a poppet is held against a machined valve seat by a light-pressure spring. This keeps the valve closed by default. When bleed air flows from the engine, its pressure easily overcomes the light spring force, pushing the poppet off its seat and allowing air to flow through the valve. If the downstream pressure ever exceeds the upstream (engine) pressure, this back pressure, combined with the spring force, instantly and forcefully snaps the poppet shut against its seat, creating a positive seal and preventing any reverse flow. This simple, purely mechanical design provides a highly reliable, "fail-safe" method of flow control.

Note: This is a flight-critical component. Installation must be performed by a certified A&P mechanic in strict accordance with the current Textron Aviation maintenance manual. The valve must be installed with the flow arrow pointing in the correct direction. All associated clamps and seals should be inspected and replaced as necessary during installation.
